A tower of about 70 storeys planned at 33 St Mary Axe in the City of London, replacing the 1990s Exchequer Court office block next to the Gherkin. The Financial Times put its height at roughly 300 m, close to the Shard, but the public consultation boards don't confirm an exact figure yet.
Upper Brook, the firm set up by former Canary Wharf Group bosses George Iacobescu and George Stow, is developing it for site owner AmTrust, with WilkinsonEyre as architect. The project is estimated at about £1 billion and Multiplex is already giving pre-construction advice. A planning application is due before Christmas 2026, and AmTrust hopes to finish by 2033 if it is approved.
