Africa's first monorail: two driverless lines, one east of the Nile linking Nasr City with the New Administrative Capital, and one west of the Nile linking Giza with 6th of October City.
The 56.5 km East Nile line was inaugurated in March 2026. Its first 16 stations opened in May and six more to Cairo Stadium in June, linking it to Metro Line 3. The West Nile line is expected next. The project has cost more than $4.5 billion.
