The first metro line in West Africa's largest French-speaking city, running 37 km north to south from Anyama to Port-Bouët through seven districts, including Adjamé, the Plateau business district and Treichville. It is designed to carry more than 500,000 passengers a day.
Construction began in December 2022. A 605-meter rail viaduct across the Ébrié Lagoon is finished and stations are going up along the route. The target was moved from late 2026 to 2028, and the cost has been revised sharply upward since the contract was signed.
