Planned as the first building to pass one kilometer. Work stopped around 2018 after upheaval at the project's backers and its main contractor, leaving a concrete stump of several dozen floors on the Red Sea coast.
A new construction contract was signed in 2025 and work restarted. The open question is pace: whether financing and the surrounding Jeddah Economic City district keep up with the tower.

- About 474 m, around Level 118
The head of Saudi Binladin Group's construction team reported the latest concrete pour at Level 118, about 474 m. Some local reports say floor 120, so the exact floor count is unconfirmed until JEC confirms it.
Source - Floor 116 reached, completion now late 2028
The tower reached its 116th floor in September, about 466 m up, leaving 41 of its 157 floors to go. Jeddah Economic Company CEO Fabien Toscano now puts completion in late 2028.
